Course history
- The course began as a six-hole layout in 1998, grew to nine holes, and opened as an 18-hole links in July 2015.
- It entered GOLF Magazine's Top 100 Courses in the World at No. 88 in the 2023-24 list.
- Viktor Hovland set the course record of 63 (8 under) from the back tees in July 2022, a day after shooting 83 in strong wind.
- Golf World placed the 2nd hole in the top 10 of its Top 100 Best Holes in Europe.
- Golf can be played around the clock under the midnight sun from mid-May to late July.
Suits
- Exposed to wind off the Norwegian Sea, so scores swing with the weather; Hovland went from 83 to 63 on consecutive days.
- Narrow fairways run between rocky outcrops, and a missed fairway often means a lost ball, so accuracy beats length.
- Short by championship standards (6,092 m from the back), which favours precise iron play over power.
- The sea is in play on several holes, with risk-reward tee shots over water on the 1st and 3rd.
Signature hole
No. 2
A par 3 of 138 m to a two-tiered green on a rocky outcrop jutting into the sea, guarded by a single pot bunker, and the most photographed hole on the course.
