Course history
- Built for golf's return to the Olympic Games in 2016, the first time since 1904.
- Justin Rose made the first hole-in-one in Olympic golf on the par-3 4th on 11 August 2016.
- Rose won the men's gold at 16 under, birdying the 18th while Henrik Stenson bogeyed it; Matt Kuchar took bronze.
- Inbee Park won the women's gold, ahead of Lydia Ko and Shanshan Feng.
- Jonathan De Los Reyes set the men's course record of 61 at the 2024 ECP Brazil Open.
Suits
- Hanse made it wide off the tee with fairly large greens, so it is playable, but wind of 10 to 15 mph in August stiffens it.
- Sandy waste areas, native scrub and many bunkers reward players who pick aggressive lines to get better angles in.
- The finish (a drivable par 4 of about 305 yards, a short par 3 and a reachable par 5) suits aggressive birdie-makers.
- Long par 4s such as the 7th play into the prevailing wind, so a strong long-iron game helps.
Signature hole
No. 18
A reachable par 5 with a deep swale front-right of the green modelled on the Valley of Sin at St Andrews, where Rose's birdie decided the 2016 men's gold.
