Course history
- The course opened in November 2009 for the first edition of the European Tour's season finale, now the DP World Tour Championship, which it has hosted every year since.
- Lee Westwood won the first edition in 2009.
- Henrik Stenson set the tournament record of 263 (25 under) in 2013.
- Rory McIlroy, Jon Rahm and Matt Fitzpatrick have each won the event three times.
- Justin Rose holds the course record of 62, set in 2012.
Suits
- Wide fairways and large greens put the emphasis on course management rather than length off the tee.
- 102 bunkers and large, grainy greens with many pin positions make approach and putting control decisive.
- Water threatens all three closing holes, including an island-green par 3 at the 17th.
- Reachable par 5s at the 2nd and 7th reward long hitters who can attack with irons.
Signature hole
No. 18
A 620-yard par 5 with water right of the tee and a creek running the length of the fairway, splitting it in two, before a raised green.
